All South Cotswold Ramblers members are invited to a Picnic Walk and Lunch on Saturday 21 June.

There will be a beautiful 5.5 mile walk which goes along the River Coln, then through woods and farmland back through the Cotswold village of Coln St. Aldwyns. There is not much climbing, just 2 slopes (total ascent 420 feet). We start at 10a.m. from outside Hatherop C. E. Primary School, GL7 3NA. Note: NOT Hatherop Castle School. (Hatherop is about a 15 minute drive from Cirencester).  Toilets will be open in the school at the start of the walk.

After the walk there is a Surprise Picnic. You’re going back to school!! No, not small chairs and pink custard but a buffet of 4 different types of sandwiches, crisps, sausage rolls, crudites, 3 different cakes, scones, cream and jam, and tea and coffee, provided by the Fundraising committee of Hatherop C. E. Primary School (where I worked for 25 years) to raise funds for their building project, which S. Cots committee decided to support.

You do not need to do the walk, you can just book and come to the lunch, or you can do the walk and stay for the picnic. Where possible please car share and park considerately in the village.

The cost will be £12 per person. To attend this you need to pay and book in advance as follows:

• then email sally@southcotswoldramblers.org.uk to say who you have paid for and any dietary requirements. Also whether you are planning on a) walking or b) not walking but just coming for the picnic

Alternatively hand correct money in envelope with contact tel no and names of attendees and whether you are walking or no walk, just picnic to Ann, Brian, or Tina on a walk.

Deadline for booking and payment is SATURDAY 31 MAY. There is a limit on numbers so book early (but it’s fairly generous). No option to turn up and eat your own food or to pay on the day, nor to do the walk and not pay for the picnic!

If you are coming for the picnic only, and not doing the walk beforehand, please arrive at the school at 1pm.

The Picnic Walks of the last 2 years were so successful that we have decided to carry on, using a different venue and with a different walk.
