The South Cotswold Ramblers have financed a new kissing gate next to the Daneway Portal of the Thames and Severn Canal near Sapperton. Ramblers have long queued by the slope, waiting for short legged ramblers to struggle over the high fence. The route then continues up the field to Sapperton Church and is part of the Wysis Way, so the gate will be well used.
The wardens installed it yesterday (Tuesday 18 April 2017).
Mike, one of the Voluntary Cotswold Wardens, said, "In at last! Lots of walkers passed by and seemed pleased to see the old stile gone. It was a long walk in but a lovely location. Let me know if we can be of further help."
See photos of the 2008 walk, where Richard mused on the possibility of a kissing gate.
