|
Starting off from Osmington Village under the woeful gaze of an artificial milk making machine
Heading across fields in the pouring rain
To Osmington Mills - too early to go into the pub
An inspiring view back down the coast
And over Osmington Village as we climb uphill
Some cormorants with their vantage points
Are we downhearted? | |
Can just about see our next objective
We pass the burning cliffs
Reaching a small wooden chapel
With engraved glass windows
Now looking back to Portland Bill
Lots of smiles - must be mad
* At this point the easy walkers take the higher route
Whilst the medium walkers start on the switchback coastal path
* As seen from above | |
Varying degrees of visibility
* Meanwhile the easy walkers can see the other lot looking like ants
* And don't envy the steep descent ahead of them
* The easy walkers have a gently descending path
* Through the gorse | |
* Whilst the medium walkers take it carefully
Scratchy bottom comes into view
* Nearly there | |
Then in front of us we spot Durdle Door
But first another steep descent followed of course by an ascent
* The two groups reunite
* A couple of stragglers very wisely taking it carefully
Some interesting edifices in the sea and Portland Bill in the distance
Rain easing up a bit now | |
Durdle Door getting closer
We all pause | |
The rock in the sea is the Bull, or Cow of Calf. Portland Bill still in the background
* At Durdle Door some schoolchildren are swimming
Around ... | |
... and back through the arch
A teacher shows how to jump from the rocks
We take in the view up the coast
Before crossing the headland and down into Luworth
The coastline stretching out before us
As we head dowhill |
