Last evening's entertainment
Today our harder walk starts in Embleton where we soon find the coast with views of Dunstanburgh Castle
.
We head across the dunes
.
Turn you monitor upside down - get it?
.
A gaggle of geese
.
We pick up where we left off at Low Newton
.
And continue along the beach
.
The castle disappearing over the horizon
.
As we head north
.
Pausing at the Long Nanny Tern Colony
.
To watch the terns turn turning
.
Home for the National Trust wardens
.
A bridge takes over a small river estuary
.
And another beach
.
Brings us to Beadnell Harbour with its lime kilns
.
Tide's out
.
A Northumberland Coble but not the one that Miss Darling made her name in. (thanks Ray for the photo)
.
Fishing boat with lobster pots stacked up behind
.
We continue up the coast
.
Pausing in search of fossils in the cliffs
.
One eye on the storm clouds gathering behind us
.
The ever present sea birds
.
Including a couple of families of Eider ducks in Seahouses harbour
.
Out at sea we now have sightings of the Farne Islands
.
Inner Farne with its lighthouse standing out
.
This lot should make plenty of frogs legs one day - bit of garlic butter
.
Then our final destination, Banburgh Castle, the end of our walking in Nirthumberland
.
