Mike's photos - Arriving at Nether Grange, Alnmouth, the first walk (after a welcome cup of tea) is around the village
.
On the terrace
.
The buttresses give a clue to the former use of the house, a grain store
.
We set off
.
Roger gives us snippets of information
.
We head towards the river mouth
.
And we spot a cross on the hill across the river. This used to be the site of the village's church, cut off when the river changed course
.
Zooming in on the lighthouse
.
A better view of the cross
.
A lovely late afternoon
.
But to the north the sky looks a bit dark
.
Some of us pop across the 9 hole golf couse to see
.
The sea
.
Clouds are gathering
.
We beat a hasty retreat to Nether Grange looking forward to dinner
.
Richard's photos - Usual Northumberland welcome as we start our arrival day evening walk
.
Walking round the old harbour
.
Which still has a few boats
.
And looking to the north along the coast which will be our route in the morning
.
On the edge of the beach we pause
.
To discuss the possibility of the dark clouds being around in the morning

top As you can see, as well as getting to know the South Cotswolds, we arrange the occasional walking holiday. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our Led Walks Programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the Ramblers.
