Holiday Photos |
Our first view of Windermere after a
long journey . |
As we are greeted by Mike who is to
lead us on the first walk of our holiday . |
One more glance at the lake . |
Before we set off through the woods . |
Of Great Tower Plantation . |
Our route takes us past a scouting
centre . |
Where Mike stops to tell us something
about the centre . |
He then leads us uphill over an area
of open access land . |
The haunt of deer (taken a month ago
with just two walkers present!) . |
We stop at the top . |
To admire the views eastwards towards
the Howgill Fells and Ingleborough, one of the famous Three Peaks in
Yorkshire . |
Plenty of smiles for the camera in the
afternoon sunshine . |
As we follow a track . |
We'll see
plenty more of these . |
Before picking up the quiet road down
into the valley . |
Like ramblers they come in all shapes,
colours and sizes . |
Our route takes us to the bottom of
the valley . |
Before we start to climb . |
Some pessimists carrying umberellas . |
Now this is a funny looking one . |
Some impressive stonewalls . |
On Moor How . |
With views over distant hills to the
West . |
Till we start our descent . |
The lamb sat on the rock . |
We continue downhill . |
While Mike poses on top of a stile (Oh
no he doesn't - he's just checking up on his flock!) . |
We rejoin our outward path through the
woods . |
Heading back to the car park, our
hotel and our first gourmet dinner . |
Mike took this picture a month ago from Brant Fell above Bowness-on-Windermere, and our hotel, the Lindeth Howe, is visible top centre.
One more Mike took earlier of Lake
Windermere . |
And finally one of our nonchalant
photographer, Richard, taken by Di. . |
If any members have taken photos that would be of interest to others, please email them to Mike.
