Dorset Autumn 2004 Day 2 |
|
Day 1, Day 3, Day 4, Day 5 | ||
Today we walked from Abbotsbury and most of us made it up to the Hardy Monument.
We set off through the picturesque village of Abbotsbury.
As we climbed, we gained better and better views of the village and the lagoon behind Chesil Beach.
St Catherine's Chapel was prominent on the skyline.
The weather started to look more settled as we neared the top of the ridge...
... although it still looked a bit threatening in the distance.
Far away was Portland Bill, our objective for Day 3.
The windswept trees and bushes on the next hill looked remarkably like retreating cattle.
Lots of us reached the Hardy Monument, named after the famous sailor.
A few of us cut the route short and found this delightful path down to the village of Portesham.
