Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, Day 5 | ||
Wednesday's walk led upwards between stone walls to Weets Cross and Calton Moor. A fine raised path had been constructed to keep the boots clear of marshy ground. A highlight of the day was the visit to a splendid farm shop and cafe at Airton. | ||
Along the
River Aire for a short way . |
||
We now turn
away from the river past a field barn . |
||
And near

Not far to

||
But very
draughty, so much so we all put the layers on . |
||
No doubt
about where to go, a causeway having been constructed across the soggy
Calton Moor . |

||
The sun
comes out . |
||
Yes, it's
definitely shining . |
||
But soon
disappears again, never to return this day. We
descend to the shelter of the valley where we eat a smallish lunch . |
