||
Straight onto the moors and into Haytor Stone Quarry |
||
A strangely beautiful place
The medium walkers stroll past |
||
We stop to examine some old stone tramway tracks |
||
Before continuing across the moor
Here on a rocky path | ||
Apparently gorse smells of coconut - to some people
A tricky river crossing
Then a brief climb | ||
Hound Tor in the distance
Confirmation | ||
Along an old drovers trail
Pausing for coffee by a stream
Near a cattle grid | ||
We continue along a quiet road with Devon banks - wall and hedge on top
Lunch is taken near Jay's Grave - the last resting place of a girl who committed suicide - many years ago
Also makes a handy seat | ||
Olivia well equiped for the moors
We stop for a look | ||
At Bowerman's Nose | ||
In case you were wondering, it's the rock formation
Worth a photograph on this misty day
And in the distance we spot Widecombe in the Moor - some of us see it later in the week
Off we go again | ||
Past some isolated cottages
Over a stream | ||
And after some discussion
We return via Haytor Rocks back to our hotel
