|
Our assault on the Long Mynd begins at the HF hotel in Church Stretton
Out through the grounds with the assorted works of art
This one won't be flying far
Another chance for a swing
Our walk takes us down the side of a valley
Through a stream at the bottom
Then uphill | |
Looking across to distant hills
Now following a broad track
Along the top of another valley
Heather blooming | |
As we stop for our morning break
Sitting on | |
Some well-positioned posts
Plenty for everybody | |
And a chance to bask in the morning sunshine
Then it's on to the trig point
Now on the roof of the world
As we follow the path along the top of the Long Mynd
To where the wild ponies have gathered
With their foals | |
Of varying colours | |
We start to descend | |
The path getting steeper
As we head round the edge of the hill
Into a secluded valley | |
Where lunch is planned | |
A chance to take boots off and paddle in the stream
Could be a pollution problem lower downstream
After lunch another sharp climb
Looking back down the valley
As we reach the top we look down on Church Stretton
Spotting a colourful fungus
Before heading downhill into town
