Coast Path - Aberystwyth to Llanrhystud - The Day of the Wind | |
| A bright morning as we leave the hotel
pausing to look back up the beach . |
| * Before heading south . |
| * In the strong breeze . |
| And turning past the pier . |
| Continuing along the front . |
| * Past a university building . |
| * Continuing round . |
| Looking
across the harbour to Allt-wen slope which we will be climbing . |
| * We pass three German owned Triumph
cars . |
| We then need to head briefly into town . |
| * Around the harbour . |
| * To use the bridge . |
| * Which has some history . |
| To cross the Rheidol . |
| * Not a day for pleasure sailing . |
| This brings us round the harbour . |
| And out on the coast path . |
| Which follows a pebbly beach . |
| * With a little shelter from the
onshore wind . |
| * Before the climb . |
| We start to feel the force of the wind . |
| * As we follow in each others
footsteps . |
| Looking
back over Aberystwyth . |
| And now nearing the top . |
| * Where we pose for a
group shot . |
| A sheltered section . |
| * White horses . |
| * Interesting rock
formations . |
| * Prolific hawberries in
such an exposed position . |
| A derelict cottage at Mynachdy'r Graig . |
| And nearby we stop for lunch . |
| Before continuing along the cliff top . |
| Looking back along the rugged
coastline . |
| * A succession of ups . |
| * A rare more level section . |
| Climbing up again . |
| And down to Llanhyrstud . |
| * Where we head inland to find our
return mini bus . |
| Back in Aberystwyth we have time for
tea and cakes at a local cafe . |
| And a chance for a look around town
looking very attractive with its flower baskets . |
| Then it's dinner in the hotel
restaurant watching the sun setting over the bay . |
