Brecon Beacons walking holiday

Mon 27 October 2008

.
Friday's walk, Nythfa House and Brecon, Saturday's walk, Sunday's walk, Monday's walk
.
For our final day, we travel back part of the way, and meet up at Llantony Priory
.
First we have a look around the ruins
.
.
Kathy tells us a little history
..
.
And then we are off!
.
.
Over the river
.
.
Past a very young foal
.
.
Starting to climb
..
.
Autumn colours
.
.
Up and over
.
.
Getting warm now
.
.
A breather to look back over the ruins
.
.
Approaching the open hillside
.
.
Yet more climbing
.
.
Quite high now
.
.
Coffee time
.
.
Up yet again
.
.
John is doing well in his unusual role of back marker
.
.
The summit, we hope
.
.
And suddenly the clouds gather, and there is a torrential storm
.
.
It doesn't last long
.
.
We travel gently along the edge
.
.
With good views into the vale
.
.
A good year for fungi
.
.
We think this is the way down
.
.

It must be!
.
.
At last, a sign to confirm
.
.
After a picnic lunch, we head back
.
.
Along the lane and back to the cars for the return journey home
.
.
.
Thank you Kathy for a most enjoyable weekend away, so well organised.

top As you can see, as well as getting to know the South Cotswolds, we arrange the occasional Group holiday for members. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in walking with us locally, see our walks programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the national Ramblers' Association.
