| We start from the Windermere Hotel and
climb Orrest Head where this stone gives us our thought for the day . |
| At the top we stand in heavy rain to
take in the view . |
| To the South . |
| And to the North . |
| We then head up Troutbeck valley (or
should that just be up Troutbeck?) . |
| Umberellas much in evidence . |
| As we pick our way along muddy tracks
and over mountain streams . |
| Our views through the mist are
continually changing . |
| As we look to the mountains . |
| And the small villages under the hills . |
| A pause for Patrick to eat a Tiffin
Cake which he bought from a local farm . |
| Before we climb one of the many ladder
stiles taking us over a wall . |
| The shadow of a hill looms through the
mist behind this wall . |
| As we continue
on our way . |
| With the village of Troutbeck
appearing down in the valley . |
| We head towards the church . |
| Crossing the stream . |
| And a look inside the church gives us
some respite from the rain . |
| In the afternoon we climb out of the
valley . |
| Over the stream . |
| Looks a bit like Dougal from the Magic
Roundabout . |
| Still climbing . |
| Till the peak is conquered . |
| And our mountaineer is joined by her
faithful Sherpa . |
| Who then has to give her a hand down . |
| From the top of Wansfell Ambleside
looks particularly dark and gloomy . |
| As we head downhill . |
| Following a stoney track . |
| To gather at the bottom . |
| Before passing this
waterfall and heading into Ambleside to hit the tearooms . |
| Then it's drying out time
back at the hotel, before our final gourmet meal - here are a few
pictures that convey the conviviality of the group, in spite of all that
the elements can throw at us! . |
