We set off from the HF Peveril of the Peak house, bypassing Thorpe Cloud ahead
And descend Lindale | |
To the stepping stones which people are crossing in trainers (compare this with pictures of the medium walk on the last day)
This tree has interesting fungus
Turkey tails, Sue tells us
Hammering coins into wood seems popular here
Dovedale is full of reef limestone which wears well, leaving many interesting shapes.
This is Reynard's Cave | |
The River Dove trickles gently along (see pictures of the medium walk on the last day)
Lionshead Rock | |
Ilam Rock | |
We stop for coffee in Milldale
Then zigzag up | |
A typical view of small fields and dry stone walls
The River Dove forms a hairpin beneath us and was modified to improve the fishing. This is home to Izaak Walton and The Complete Angler.
We descend into Tissington. This is Hall Well, one of the 6 wells that are dressed by pressing flowers and other organic material into clay during Ascension Week. About 50,000 people visit this village for the well-dressing. It was busy enough on the sunny Sunday we were there!
A group photo | |
We return to the hotel and another view of Thorpe Cloud. |
