| We leave via an access ramp to beat all access ramps! | |
| A palpable sense of excitement as we approach the Dove Valley | |
| And down we go | |
| To the famous stepping stones across the River Dove | |
| Three us us cannot resist the challenge (3 pictures from Ann) | |
| A family are waiting patiently to cross the opposite way | |
| We plan to follow them back to rejoin the group - Mike takes the next picture ... | |
| ... of the others watching, waiting for someone to get a dowsing | |
| But we don't, and we all continue our walk along the deep valley with lots of rocky outcrops | |
| There are some ups ... | |
| ... and downs. Watch your steps | |
| Look at that | |
| All the features have names | |
| Which I have forgotten | |
| That cave we are about to pass | |
| Is larger than you would imagine | |
| Gorse in bloom | |
| We reach the packhorse bridge after 3.5 miles | |
| At Milldale where tea and coffee is available | |
| Some of us follow our leader up a zig zag route to the top, while others will retrace their steps | |
| Quite a climb all at once | |
| Are we nearly there? | |
| Yes.We head across farmland | |
| A lovely morning | |
| Young calves at the farm | |
| Is that Thorpe Cloud? We must be nearly there. | |
| Yes, there it is, and we head back after a memorable 7 mile walk |
