Aberystwyth Walking Holiday

Sunday 12 September 2010
Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday

Holiday Photos
A few miles outside Aberystwyth we break our journey
.
At the Bwlch Nant yr Arian Visitor Centre
.
* For a short walk
.
On Forestry Commission land
.
With views down into the valley
.
And tree stumps for the more vertically challenged to gain a bit of height
.
Plenty of blue sky to start our break
.
As we follow a forest track over bridges
.
* Led by Richard, our able leader
.
* Lots of sunny smiles
.
Someone's trousers seem to have shrunk in the wash
.
The return track is along an old miners leat
.
* Past this attractive mosaic
.
The leat once channelled water to the lead mines
.
Plenty of wild life to see
.
As well as more views down the valley to Aberystwyth
.
And yet more valleys
.
Radiating down from the ridge
.
* Everyone OK?
.
* Along the path on the ledge
.
After our walk we pause to point out to the driver of this car that he has encroached on the neighbouring bay
.
Before a quick cup of tea in the Visitors Centre
.
* Where some of us have fun watching the small birds feeding
.
* At close quarters
.
* After you - no after you
.
* And then we go out to watch the Kite feeding which takes place by a lake
.
* We wait expectantly
.
* Steve and Rosemary hide away
.
They are starting to gather
.
* In greater numbers
.
Coming in over the trees
.
Feed me feed me
.
Colours showing in the sun
.
Then a quick flap of the wings
.
Before swooping down for food
.
Then returning to the skies
.
Watched by some of our own birds
.
A last look around before heading off to find more feeding stations
.
