Barmouth
Spring 2008 Day 4
Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, Day 5

A walk from the Hotel door today.
We decide to walk the mile along the front
.
.
Before heading for the mountains
.
.
.
As is usual in these parts, we need to climb steeply past the cottages near the coast
.
.
.
And some of us soon get warm
.
.
Not content with steep hills we have tall ladder stiles
.
.
Pausing to look back over the coastline
.
.
And sheltering to study the map
.
.
We head up ancient trackways
.
.
And have coffee in an old mining area
.
.
We work our way around the hills until we have our first view over the Estuary
.
.
The views are atmospheric
.
.
Is it sheltered enough for lunch here?
.
.
Yes, if you position yourself correctly
.
.
We spot a sheep apparently in trouble
.
.
Heather and Ross dash to the rescue, but the sheep trots nonchalantly off!
.
.
After an hour climbing a mountain pass (no photos taken) we emerge and spot the coastline in the west once again
.
.
We head downhill
.
.
The landscape becomes more pastoral
.
.
Sheep may safely graze
.
.
Nearly down to sea level now
.
.
We return along the coast road back to the hotel!
