Can you help re-open a footpath at Frocester? UPDATE

UPDATE February 2016 - Bernard has now heard that Contracters will soon be opening up this path!

SUCCESS!

Frocester footpath number EFR32 has been blocked by a hedge and barbed-wire fencing for many years. This is the footpath that runs northwards from Peter’s Street at grid reference SO 7708 0294 to meet path EFR26 behind St Peter’s church. It forms part of several useful circular walks in the Coaley, Frocester and Eastington areas.

The blockage has been reported to Gloucestershire County Council many times but the response has always been that there have not been enough complaints from the public to justify the council taking action. The alternative to using the path is to walk a quarter of a mile along Peter’s Street – a narrow dangerous lane.

Recently a local walking group has expressed strong interest in opening this path up. If you would like to use this path or have been prevented from doing so in the past, you can add your voice to the campaign by emailing the council rights-of-way officer responsible for this area: sarah.macaulay-lowe@amey.co.uk. Alternatively, you can use the problem reporting system on the GCC website: www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/prow. The more people that take action, the better chance we have of a successful outcome.
