Chalford and Oakridge - December 2003
Mike and Heather led us on a hilly 5 mile weekday walk on a gloriously sunny morning in the depths of winter.
An extremely frosty start to our walk from Chalford's Valley Corner. Note the sunshine on the other side of the valley.
We walk along the towpath of the Thames and Severn Canal. There are plans afoot to restore it for recreational use.
We look up and see the cattle in the sun - they know what's what!
An amazing scene.
Once we have climbed up from the canal at Whitehall Bridge, we get the full benefit of the sunshine as we head towards Oakridge - or is it Oakridge Lynch (all answers welcome - we are perplexed).
Interesting sculptures spotted in a garden. The couple are based on upturned wheelbarrow frames!
We pose by the only gold and silver signpost in the county - probably!
We descend a quiet valley and then have an inevitable climb back up to France Lynch. The frost lingers in the shade. It has the advantage of solidifying the oozy mud near here.
Nearly back to Chalford now.
We discussed whether we would like to live in this valley in deepest winter - this shot was taken at 1:00pm! What do you think?
