Walk 9
Cider with Rosie in the Slad Valley
This is an interesting and varied 5 mile walk around the beautiful Slad Valley, perhaps the most unspoiled of the valleys converging on Stroud. It has been immortalised by Laurie Lee in his worldwide best-selling book "Cider with Rosie".

Although the main route does not enter the village itself, wonderful views can be observed as you pass along the eastern side of the valley and after climbing Swift's Hill you will see an impressive panorama over Stroud and the distant Severn Vale.

It is possible to visit the Woolpack Inn and the church 600 yards off the route after point D. The walk is very hilly, but the scenery more than compensates.
