As the rain eases, the cameras come out and our first subject is the Wellington Monument
Lumps of rock proving a feature of the landscape as we look down into the valley
Then comes Nelson's monument
With three rocks representing his ships
The Victory | |
And the Defiance being two of them
We continue along the Birchen Edge
And down to the Robin Hood
Downhill to a stream, over a bridge and onto the Chatsworth Estate
Where we encounter some estate deer
More rocks - I think this one is called the bear
An old millstone lying on the ground
As we head downhill, an old canon looking down into the valley
In front of this old folly
Continuing through the estate we reach an old aqueduct
We follow the road round the front of Chatsworth House
Crossing the River Derwent
To the village of Edensor
With its small cottages
Then up the hill behind the village
Before walking down through the Haddon Estate
With views over Bakewell
Time for a stroll along the river
Before strolling back through the town. |
