|
Our mornings begin with a walk down the steps of the hotel to the car park to catch the bus
Which today takes us to Kingston and the pub garden
Where vantage points were soon found
To take photos of the view to Corfe Castle
In the village we pass ancient cottages
To the church | |
A quick look inside | |
Then it's out through woods carpeted in wild garlic and bluebells
Then a farm | |
With wire sheep | |
A water wheel | |
And a pond | |
We follow a road with Corfe Castle in view
Plenty of wisteria about in Corfe village
Makes a change to have a dog watching from the window instead of a cat
As we hunt out the sign for the Purbeck Way
Some of us find our way to the National Trust tea-room below Corfe Castle*
He can probably help show us the way
So can he | |
But we soon find our way | |
Heading uphill with views back to Corfe
It's well-positioned to be seen even from further away*
A steam train chugging down the valley
Continuing along the ridge
On the one side we look down on Swanage
Eventually reaching the Obelisk
Now heading for Old Harry Rocks, the Isle of Wight in the distance
Wider views of Poole Harbour
Then Old Harry comes into view
And is studied from all sides
Together with the stunning chalk cliffs
The Isle of Wight more visible now*
Jenni and Peter on the edge **
Mike takes a photo of the group - do they realise how sheer the cliff is? **
Most have now spotted Mike's camera **
Coming round the corner we look down on Studland
And back to Old Harry | |
In Studland the Post Office has anticipated our arrival. |
