| Just 17 out - down on the other group walk today | |
| But what we lack in numbers we make up for in quality as Alex pauses for us to negotiate a stile | |
| Heading up through the woods we pause for a quick drink | |
| Then climb some precipitous steps | |
| Making our way along the hillside | |
| With views across the valley | |
| A family of pork chops | |
| As we continue along a woodland path | |
| Now looking across to Ebley and Randwick | |
| As we pause for coffee | |
| Then we follow a track uphill | |
| To Selsley Common | |
| We cross the top | |
| And make our way down to the church | |
| Where we assemble | |
| Then head down along the Cotswold Way across frosty fields | |
| Following a rutted path | |
| Along frozen riverside fields | |
| A dog trainer out for a walk | |
| Passing Snow Business with its intruder deterrents as we make for the canal | |
| Walking along the towpath | |
| Seats arranged in the garden ready for the opening of the canal | |
| Approaching one of the bridges which cross our route | |
| And as we continue we spot the inaugural sailing on a newly cleared section of the canal | |
| The old college boathouse - be nice if that was restored | |
| Now passing Bridgend | |
| And another bridge | |
| St Cyr's Church on the opposite bank | |
| And a wedding taking place in Stonehouse Court | |
| The weir at Beard's Mill | |
| And a train flashing by on the railway above us | |
| We now recross the railway | |
| Stand in the middle of the track and take a photo - we will tell you if there is a train coming! | |
| Now heading towards the Stanleys | |
| Leonard Stanley Church and Priory across the fields | |
| And King's Stanley ahead as we make our way back | |
| Photos and captions from Richard | |
| As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us,see our Led Walks Programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the Ramblers. |
