.
A bright, dry morning as Mike informs everyone
That we will start our 4 mile walk with a visit to Frocester Manor
And particularly the Medieval Tithe Barn - 700 years old
Old style car ports
The old and the new!
Mule ewes in ready for lambing fairly soon
The roof timbers in the 183 feet long barn were replaced in 1525
The barn is still in full use
A very interesting experience
The other buildings are fascinating
And the farmer informs the ladies of his views on the TB problem
Eventually we get going
Across the fields
With a different view of Coaley Peak Viewpoint
Along Silver Street
Across a clapper bridge
Towards Coaley Church
Where we have a break in the children's playground
Then we pass the church
And some interesting cottages
We see the old tower of Frocester church from afar - the rest of the stone was re-used for the construction of Wycliffe College Chapel at Stonehouse in the 1950's
And three deer "hoppit"
Soon we arrive back at the George Inn where many of us have lunch.
.
Below are Bernard's photos of the footpath problems to be reported that we found en route
Heather, our back marker, does not fancy this one, having seen everyone else have a struggle. No post to hang on to.
At the other end of the footbridge is another horrible stile with barbed wire on a post which drew one member's blood! Location map for these two: http://tinyurl.com/SO783026
The next boundary has another awkward stile which is also very difficult without an upright to hang on to.
Immediately followed by a standard footbridge Location: http://tinyurl.com/SO781024
A completely blocked footpath
And opposite a locked gate overgrown by the hedgerow which is the beginning of another completely inaccessible footpath Location: http://tinyurl.com/SO770029

As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us,see our Led Walks Programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the Ramblers.
