.
Marston Meysey church on a Saturday morning - all is quiet - Ramblers a bit thin on the floor
.
Enterprising villagers trying to scrape a living
.
I feel a right nanna in this lot
..
Bernard leads his small group towards Kempsford
.
Where the old canal pub has now closed
.
But where there are other reminders of the past
.
Seen hanging from a tree - any ideas?
.
It's an on and off day with the waterproofs
.
As we continue across fields
.
To Lechlade
.
A short walk down the high street
.
Before our only climb of the day past the renovated toll house
.
Up and over the bridge over the Thames
.
Something wrong? Bernard seems to be going in the opposite direction to the rest of us
.
Storm clouds still looming on the horizon
.
As we sit and eat our lunch looking back at the bridge
.
While our feathered friends wait for leftovers
.
We continue along the river
.
Banks lined with boats
.
Messing about on the river - or more correctly the canal as we reach the start of the canal
.
Pausing to look at the old round house
.
And for John and Bernard to pose for the camera as the only two to have completed all eight walks
.
We now follow the Thames Path
.
Past Inglesham Church
.
And a nice crop of onions
.
A Thames Path which is nowhere near the river but follows fields
.
Until Kempsford Church comes into view
.
And occasional glimpses of the river
.
More road walking
.
Till we reach Castle Eaton
.
Crossing back over the Thames
.
Wide but shallow here
.
Then back across fields to Marston Meysey
.
Pictures and words from Richard
top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our Led Walks Programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the Ramblers.
