.
A happy, if soggy start at the King's Head, Upton St Leonards
.
Patrick intoduces Mike Blanch, a keen Upton footpath worker, who is co-leading the walk
.
We quickly pass the bar, whose staff will make us welcome later
.
And we head off around the edge of the village
.
Through the productive allotments
.
Looking a picture
.
Patrick points out the finer details of Angela's plot
.
Before we head off towards Prinknash
.
The residents eye us nervously
.
But we are only interested in a coffee stop - with monks chanting melodiously in the background (recorded of course)
.e Woods
It's brightening up now
.
We head up again and spot Robinswood Hill
.
Before Mike and Patrick show us a new permissive path (note the waymark)
.
We head uphill
.
Pausing to admire the view
.
Patrick relates a tale of Henry VIII - he came this way
.
So we follow in his footsteps
.
Henry did not climb these!
.
Mike Blanch and the Upton team of volunteers built them
.
We join the Cotswold Way
.
And head across towards Painswick Beacon
.
Descending just before the Beacon
.
Along a new permissive bridleway, thus avoiding road walking
.
And back across the fields
.
To Upton St Leonards
.
A very enjoyable walk for all concerned

top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our Led Walks Programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the Ramblers.
