| At the Walkers Car Park
those looking for a longer walk gather at one end . |
| Joined by a couple of members from the
Stroud Club . |
| While at the other end Mike assembles
the morning walkers . |
| And we head off into
Painswick . |
| Fresh tarmac
in the High street, the only signs left from the recent road closure . |
| The Falcon looks quite
inviting in the morning sun . |
| A brief stop in the
Stamages lane car park . |
| Before we head down into the valley . |
| Crossing the
Painswick stream near Kings Mill . |
| Past the country cottages at
Sheephouse .e Woods |
| Negotiating an old stile . |
Then heading downhill . |
| And up out of the
valley . |
| Where a long coffee break
enables the other group to catch up . |
| But we soon leave them
behind again . |
| As we walk along to Edge (Rudge)
common looking back across the valley . |
| Eventually crossing the Stroud road . |
| And moving on to Huddinknoll Hill . |
| Then over to Cud Hill and the Blow
familly memorial . |
| If you will lift up yours! . |
| We pause for lunch by the side of the
road . |
| Monet would probably have called this "Young
girl alone with wild flowers" . |
| But we know differently . |
| There follows a steady climb up
Painswick Beacon . |
| Before we stop at the top to admire
the views . |
| Across the Severn Vale . |
| But what goes up must come down . |
| And we walk back across the golf
course to our starting point . |

| As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our Led Walks Programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the Ramblers. |
