.
We divide into two groups and here the half day walkers pass through Painswick
.
Along the ancient New Street
.
Subdividing around the nettles into shorts wearers
.
And those more suitably attired
.
Passing Kings Mill
.
We almost catch up with the all day walkers
.
Determinedly we up the pace (oh no we don't)
.
We enjoy roses all the way
.
Looking at the wild flowers
.
As we climb up
.e Woods
(Bit steep this!)
.
And cross over
.
Reaching Pitchcombe House
.
Where we swap our knowledge
.
Through the village we admire someone's hollyhocks
.
And up the steep pitch
.
Pausing to look back
.
Well I never, without trying we have caught them up again!
.
Elevenses are taken
.
They leave and we settle down for ours
.
Setting off again around Pitchcombe Woods
.
With views over the village
.
We emerge into the sunlight
.
Passing Resthaven
.
Eventually reaching Edge Common with views to Painswick
.
Mike mentions the constant battle to keep the tree saplings under control
.
We join the Cotswold Way
.
Glancing at the new Natural England information board calling the area Rudge Hill, although their website still refers to Edge Common
.
Crossing the road carefully
.
We head downhill
.
Posing by the Cotswold Way plaque (47 miles to Chipping Campden and 55 miles to Bath)
.
Wondering about the carvings at Washbrook Farm
.
Mike has more in the party than he realises!
.
Back through Painswick we admire more gardens
.
And make our way back to the Walkers Carpark
.
.
.

top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our Led Walks Programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the Ramblers.
