.
It's a floppy hat day as Tim starts us off on a long hot walk
.
And we make our way across dry, dusty fields
.
Shady paths providing some relief
.
To the Agricultural College - floppy hat getting in the way
.
Time for elevenses at the farm
.
And for us
.
A bit of road walking now
.
Tim stops to point out the line of the canal - the towpath currently on private land
.
We stop as we cross a very young River Thames
.
A pause on the outskirts of Kemble
.e Woods
What's this England Germany business then?
.
Waiting for the lights to change
.
We cross the railway looking at the start of the single file track - soon to be double?
.
Then it's a pub lunch
.
Refreshed and with floppy hats replaced it's time for the afternoon walk
.
As we take a familiar path out of Kemble
.
Reaching the source of the Thames. Rather crowded!
.
A group of 45 Ramblers from East Herts have just completed a walk from the Thames Barrier to Kemble. Well done lads!
.
We carry on to join the canal - a bit of a mess here
.
Following the tow path
.
Under the famous skew bridge
.
And on to the round house
.
Where Tim explains its history
.
Before we head along Kings Reach
.
{short description of image}
To the Coates Portal
.
We then retrace our steps picking up the road to Coates
.
Passing an area going under the unlikely name of Basset Dockham
.
Before taking the road back to the cars
.
.
.

top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our Led Walks Programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the Ramblers.
