.
A peaceful canal side scene
.
And a handy picnic bench to sit as we gather for John's evening walk
.
Across the road is Purton Church
.
Which we pass before climbing the only hill and look back over the Severn
.
Round a field of ripening barley
.
Our path blocked by impenetrable crops we follow another round the edge of the field
.
Across another field - John trusting to his GPS
.
Eventually picking up our intended route into Sharpness passing this rundown farm
.
And at the docks a resting place for cranes
.
A crested grebe spotted in the docks
.e Woods
We stop to inspect the monument to TS Vindicatrix
.
Before crossing the canal
.
And admiring the views up the Severn
.
Don't know who is in charge on this boat
.
We continue along the canal bank
.
Passing the remains of the old railway bridge
.
Reflected in the calm waters
.
Until we reach the Purton hulks
.
Hulk at sunset
.
Another view over the Severn
.
And another sunset for good measure
.
Funny what some people do in their gardens
.
And here we are at the end of the walk - not very often we see this good looking fellow
.

top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our Led Walks Programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the Ramblers.
