.
Anither beautiful day as we assemble for one or two walks from Shortwood.
.
We head off to the topograph
.
With sunny disposition
..
After which
.
It's downhill all the way
.
Mike points out Vinegar Hill, a bump on our right, which is now Open Access Land, and which we plan to visit later
.
To our left is Standish Park Farm, also on our route
.
We continue down
.
To the bottom
.
Through the farmyard
.
And head up past pretty cottages
.
And a bank of primroses
.
We trn uphill at Standish Park Farm, one of the local dogs greeting another on his walk
.
Up we go
.
To the Cotswold Way
.
Near the Randwick Ash
.
Where we enjoy a well earned break
.
Then it's along the National Trail
.
Diverting off to obtain more views
.
With a slight up again to the car park, where 4 of our number finish their 4 mile morning walk
.
While the rest of continue on to a slope near the Beacon for a sunny picnic
.
We head down hill again to Vinegar Hill
.
Where Bernard tests the depth of a hole inside this odd object - too long for his trusty stick. From afar we thought it might be a trig point but no. Answers on a postcard please...
.
Of course the view is slightly different from here
.
A bit misty but we can see Haresfield Garden Centre with crowds of people no doubt there, and May Hill vaguely in the background
.
We continue along the hillside
.
Past a stables where this horse knows we have a camera, and poses with Painswick Beacon as a dramatic backdrop
.
A new diversion and new kissing gates takes us above the farm
.
Stiles are much more of an effort
.
Although it gives us a chance to chat
.
Heading towards Edge
.
But we then turn right uphill and through the woods
.
And back to our cars at Shortwood, having done just over 8 miles
.
Photos and captions thanks to Mike
top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our Led Walks Programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the Ramblers.
