.
The sun is shining as Bernard prepares us for walk 5 in his series of canal walks
.
But what's this? Looks like he might do someone a mischief
.
We set off from the Tunnel House, complete with dog, pausing to look at
..
The tunnel entrance
.
Before walking along Kings Reach
.
Soon reaching the round house
.
Where Bernard stops to give us its history
.
Before we head on passing under the Skew Bridge
.
He's still with us
.
Next stop it's the source of the Thames
.
Here Bernard tries to explain the absence of water
.
Plenty of snowdrops this year
.
Time for coffee
.
Crossing another field a steam train comes into sight - a Hall and a Castle heading for Didcot
.
Bernard on the phone? Time to do something about our canine friend as we are approaching a main road
.
Fortunately he lives close by. John leads "Woody" back across the field
.
To be happily reunited with his owner
.
We continue to the main road
.
Which we walk along, one eye on the speed camera
.
Till a side road takes us towards Ewen
.
The sign refers to the road not the walkers
.
We pause on a bridge over the canal
.
Before going down to the towpath
.
And following the course of the canal again
.
We eventually leave the canal stopping on a bridge over a disused railway line
.
Then continuing along the road
.
Stopping at some convenient logs for lunch
.
Heading towards the Royal Agricultural College
.
We enter the grounds
.
Walking around the front of the college
.
Before making our way across country
.
Our path enclosed by bushes
.
As we walk back towards the canal
.
Where we retrace our steps
.
Keeping to the left
.
Back along Kings Reach to the Tunnel House
.

top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our Led Walks Programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the Ramblers.
