.
Mike ponders the problem of prising a party of ramblers out of a bus shelter in a snow storm
.
No problem as the weather improves and with a quick check of the GPS we are off
.
Heading down towards Calfway Farm
..
Then up the other side
.
Casting a glance at the farm behind us
.
At the top of the hill we pause
.
Then set off across the fields
.
Umbrellas now needed for the light drizzle
.
A farmyard which has seen better days
.
We follow a wide track
.
Which takes us into Througham
.
Past the imposing Througham Court
.
Once more heading down a grassy track
.
Into the bottom of the valley
.
Which means that our next way is up
.
First to the top get the chance to smugly watch the rest
.
As they struggle up the hill
.
Signs of early foliage on the trees
.
A rather unsafe stile is negotiated
.
And a herd of hostile sheep is circumnavigated
.
Now in Sudgrove we look down on Warneford House
.
Then stop for coffee, a horse also hoping for a cup
.
He has to settle for a slice of apple
.
There follows a woodland walk
.
With various trees
.
Till we come to Holy Brook
.
And back out into the open
.
With walls
.
To climb over as best we can
.
Heading up the hill
.
Mike stopping to show us where we have been - wondered why he brought that stick
.
Before we head back along the top of Battlescombe
.
To be greeted by a welcome sight at the end of the road
.

top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our Led Walks Programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the Ramblers.
