.
Alex entertains with her Tommy Cooper impression - "just like that"
.
As we head off on her walk from Minchinhampton
.
Soon encountering our first stile
..
As we head round
.
Burleigh Common
.
I've got my eye on you lot
.
Our path takes us downhill
.
Into the valley
.
Past a year's supply of pork chops
.
Through Swellshill
.
And down to the canal
.
Where we stop for coffee
.
Safely segregated from the unruly members of the group
.
We continue through Brimscombe Port
..
And along the canal
.
To St Mary's
.
Where we begin to climb
.
Past the houses on Hyde Hill
.
St Mary's Mill disappearing behind us
.
Eventually picking up the narrow road
.
Early snowdrops growing by its side
.
Full advantage being taken of a children's swing
.
Nearing the top John is given an encouraging pat on the back as we catch our breath
.
We continue along the hilltop
.
Picking up our morning route back into Minchinhampton
.
Our afternoon walk takes us out of Minchinhampton over Tetbury Street
.
Across a stile
.
And downhill
.
The slope getting steeper and steeper as we look down to the stream in the valley
.
Which we follow
.
Along to Longford's Mill
.
Now rather smart housing
.
Before taking the Avening road
.
Then heading uphill
.
To Box
.
And out onto the Common which takes us back to Minchinhampton
.
Past an interesting herd of llamas
.

top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our Led Walks Programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the Ramblers.
