.
In the picture postcard village of Bibury we meet Jacqui to start our walk
.
A bridge over the busy river Colne
.
We head off up the Colne Valley
..
Di thinks she looks quite elegant for a change crossing this stile
.
Ready for the promised rain - but it's still dry
.
The first snowdrops -a bit on the small side
.
Black swans? Or white swans in need of a bath?
.
Re-crossing the Colne at Ablington
.
Won't be long before the river bursts its banks!
.
Some well maintained trees on the horizon
.
As we make our way up the valley
.
Meeting some horses coming the other way
.
And passing the remains of an old gnarled tree
.
An area of game cover
..
Where we stop for coffee
.
A mucky track
.
Takes us across the top of the hill
.
The hedgerow full of old man's beard
.
We get mixed up with some ground works - but the workers call a halt to give us safe passage
.
Bibury appears down in the valley
.
Some more early spring flowers
.
We enter the village
.
Past the church
.
And another grubby swan
.
And the famous Arlington Row across the river
.
Last chance to wash muddy boots before we repair to the Swan Hotel for lunch
.

top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our Led Walks Programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the Ramblers.
