Everybody looking very cheerful as Christine waits for stragglers to arrive
.
And we set off through Nailsworth
.
To the millwheel at Ruskin Mill
..
Where we stop to look around
.
Before heading up the valley
.
Along the stream
.
Climbing up to Horsley
.
Where we stop for coffee
.
Our route takes us back down into the valley through woods
.
Heading towards Kingscote
.
Now over frost covered fields
.
A pause for Christine to she still has 39 walkers with her
.
And we continue across the top of the hill
.
Until a suitable sheltered spot is found
..
For lunch
.
There follows a short uphill climb
.
Before we cross the top of the hill
.
Carefully descending the frozen north facing slope on the other side
.
A stile takes us along the side of the valley
.
Now in bright sunshine
.
A few muddy spots a the ground starts to thaw
.
Eventually reaching Horsley
.
We head down into Downend
.
And back up over rough pasture
.
Spread out as we each try to find a passable route over some boggy ground
.
We then follow a footpath between some rather makeshift fencing
.
Nailsworth now appearing in front of us
.
As we head downhill
.
Into the town
.
And back past a waterfall in the Avening stream to the cars
.

top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our Led Walks Programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the Ramblers.
