Nine walkers braved the elements on Saturday for what turned out to be a rewarding walk
.
Not just because I picked up a fiver in the snow! (Now donated to the Leprosy Mission)
.
We set off across Rodborough Common
..
Spectacular views across the Chalford Valley
.
Reaching the Great Park with Minchinhampton Church in the corner
.
We head down the hill behind the Tyneings - some red berries here somewhere
.
Taking to a footpath
.
And a brief stop for coffee
.
The path ahead standing out in the snow
.
Janna eating something healthy
.
We head back round to the top of Hyde Hill
.
A sign of the temperatures
.
The horses in Burnt Ash Farm too busy eating to notice us
.
As we head across the fields
.
Care needed on the slippery stiles
..
This sand is cold!
.
Arriving in Minchinhampton
.
The other side of the Common
.
A brief stop in a coffee shop prepares us for our afternoon walk
.
As we follow the old footpath round the back of the village
.
Coming back onto the Common
.
Past the Half Way House
.
And along the Common to Rodborough where we look down Bear Hill
.
Across to North Woodchester Church
.
Up the valley to Nailsworth
.
With a final view across to Doverow and Randwick Woods
.
Photos and captions thanks to Richard, who with Di led the walk too!
top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our Led Walks Programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the Ramblers.
