| Striding out from Coaley Peak down the
Cotswold Way through Stanley Woods . |
| A short stretch in the open . |
| Before a flooded path .. |
| Where we look down over the valley
towards Doverow and Standish Woods . |
| Then the climb begins . |
| To the top of Selsley Common where we
stop for coffee in a sheltered quarry with a readymade table . |
| Not too bad in the sun . |
| But there are signs of flooding in the
valley . |
| Pausing at the top of Selsley to
admire the views . |
| Before turning back across the Common . |
| And down the other side of the valley . |
| Where we now look down
over Rodborough . |
| Marching single file across a field of
winter crops . |
| Lunch is taken in Woodchester Park . |
| By one of the lakes -
waiting for a ghostly coffin to appear - at least that's what it says in
the book . |
| We pass the boat house . |
| Our route taking us up the valley . |
| Past the Mansion and back to the cars . |
| Thank you Richard for leading the walk and taking the photos and composing the captions |
| As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our Led Walks Programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the Ramblers. |
