Striding out from Coaley Peak down the Cotswold Way through Stanley Woods
.
A short stretch in the open
.
Before a flooded path
..
Where we look down over the valley towards Doverow and Standish Woods
.
Then the climb begins
.
To the top of Selsley Common where we stop for coffee in a sheltered quarry with a readymade table
.
Not too bad in the sun
.
But there are signs of flooding in the valley
.
Pausing at the top of Selsley to admire the views
.
Before turning back across the Common
.
And down the other side of the valley
.
Where we now look down over Rodborough
.
Marching single file across a field of winter crops
.
Lunch is taken in Woodchester Park
.
By one of the lakes - waiting for a ghostly coffin to appear - at least that's what it says in the book
.
We pass the boat house
.
Our route taking us up the valley
.
Past the Mansion and back to the cars
.
Thank you Richard for leading the walk and taking the photos and composing the captions
top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our Led Walks Programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the Ramblers.
