An opportunity to check my advice on horses in the newsletter?
.
We return to walking on the quiet road after leaping for cover from a passing car
.
Calfway Farm nestling in the valley
..
Must put a note in the newsletter on how to cope with herds of guinea fowl
.
I am sure he was once on the Committee
.
We continue on our way over a rather tricky stile built into a gate
.
Mike's picture of some of the assembled multitude with our leader Richard in two tones of blue
.
A more solid stile - still Mike doesn't need to climb over it there is a big gap at the side!
.
Our path continues down into the valley
.
Through High Wood
.
And out into the Dillay Valley
.
Where the reason for the large numbers on the walk becomes apparent
.
As Di starts to hand out cake
.
Refusal or criticism not being an option when she has a large knife in her hand!
.
Meanwhile our youngest member seems ready to go
.
We walk through the woods with the far side of the valley bathed in sunshine
.
Now why can't we be walking over there?
.
Out in the open we head towards Furners Farm
.
Where we look down the valley to Selsley
.
Lunch is taken at Swifts Hill
.
Perched precariously on top
.
With further views down the valley
.
We set off after lunch
.
Through Purgatory
.
Which doesn't seem too bad
.
Even the dogs are friendly
.
Continuing up the lane to Fennells Farm
.
Can't get much plainer than this
.
Down in Toadsmoor we are joined by Andy well on his way to recovery from his operation
.
Mike stops to examine a stream coming down at the side of the path and forming tufa
.
Before pressing on up the Toadsmoor Valley
.
Back to Bisley. Now we started with 39 + a baby, we lost 2 on the way and gained 1 - how many should we have now?
.

top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our Led Walks Programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the Ramblers.
