.
Tim checks his notes as we gather in the car park of the Royal Oak at Leighterton
.
Setting off in rather damp conditions
.
Across ploughed fields
.
Walking round the headland
.
Then more fields
.
Then stopping briefly
.
Before making our way through a herd of cows
.
Well, all cows except this one!
.
We head briefly downhill
.
The weather improving
.
Then back uphill
.
Past Boxwell Court
.
The gardeners amongst us stopping to admire this one
.
Recrossing the A46
.
Past the well known long barrow hidden in trees
.
Back to our starting point where lunch is taken
.
Fully refreshed we head out of Leighterton past the cemetery with the Australian and NZ war graves
.
Following the edge of a field
.
Encountering the odd stile
.
And a gate which proves quite difficult to open
.
We then enter Westonbirt Arboretum
.
A distant relative of the mushrom? Can you eat it?
.
Another long field
.
Now I feel guilty about the steak I had at lunch
.
As we circle back to Leighterton
.
First passing a cottage in need of repair
.
Then the duck pond
.
And finally the church as we head to our starting point
.

top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our Led Walks Programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the Ramblers.
