On Windy Ridge I would have thought most callers would be cold
.
Still the sun is out and we feel quite warm as Mike welcomes us to walk no.10
.
We walk into Bisley
.
Past the Lych Gate
.
And into the churchyard
.
A steep set of steps takes us to the bottom of the village
.
Where we take to a muddy track on the Wysis Way
.
Our route takes us across fields
.
With a pause for Mike to check that we have the correct path
.
Before we continue down
.
Into Bournes Green
.
A stile
.
Takes us into a field of cows
.
And we make our way to Oakridge
.
Passing the village school onion patch
.
We now head down into the valley
.
With Bakers Mill in front of us
.
As we walk along the valley road
.
On the canal path we pass the Mill and lake
.
As we follow the path
.
Pausing to study the information board at Whitehall Bridge
.
A stop for a thirsty look at the Daneway but we must continue
.
On our path between river and canal
.
To the Daneway Portal
.
Then up the fields to Sapperton
.
Where we pause to look in the church
.
With this memorial to Robert Atkins, a great doer of good works
.
Before taking lunch in the churchyard
.
We leave Sapperton heading down into the valley and over the new Dorval Bridge
.
Then uphill
.
To polo country
.
With views of Edgeworth House
.
And more climbing
.
Then a broad woodland path
.
Over a stile
.
And into Battlescombe
.
Leaping across a stream
.
Eventually spotting the spire of Bisley Church
.
As we cross one last field
.
And into the village
.
A short walk up the road brings us back to the cars
.

top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our Led Walks Programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the Ramblers.
