.
The roadside in Cold Aston - the start of today's walk
.
We head out of the village (led by Richard taking the photos)
.
And down to Notgrove
.
A stile takes ua across the corner of a cottage garden
.
And we leave Notgrove across the fields
.
Through a tunnel under a disused railway
.
Pausing to cross a road - or a chance to undress
.
Then a stop for coffee
.
And a chance for some to check the map to make sure we are not lost
.
We continue - still a well bunched group
.
Which is more than can be said for the sheep
.
Coming down into Naunton with its dovecote
.
We cross the Windrush
.
Then have a look inside the dovecote
.
With its 900+ openings
.
We leave Naunton
.
Encountering the walk's only muddy patch
.
A long walk along the top of the hill
.
{short description of image}
Before we start our descent
.
Past these cottages
.
To Upper Slaughter
.
For lunch on the banks of the river Eye
.
After which we cross the river
.
And cross the fields
.
Past the Manor House
.
To Lower Slaughter where we stop for tea
.
All very civilised
.
Although some opt to wait outside
.
Making the most of the afternoon sun
.
We leave Lower Slaughter
.
Along the Macmillan Way
.
And cross fields
.
Till we reach the road
.
To Cold Aston (once Estone, then Cold Aston, then Aston Blank, then in 1972 Cold Aston again)
.
A last stroll through the village to the cars
.

top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our Led Walks Programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the Ramblers.
