Having welcomed 46 people at Painswick Walkers Car park for this joint event with Stroud Rambling Club, Richard takes 22 off on a day walk, while Mike and Heather lead 24 people on a 6 mile half day walk. Part of the assembled throng trying to decide which walk to go on.
.
And on the longer walk we soon pick up the Cotswold Way
.
Allen holding everybody's attention
.
As we continue on the national trail
.
To just below Edge
.
We descend across the valley
.
Heading up the other side
.
Half way up
.
We pause for coffee
.
On reaching the top - we head down again
.
The sun shining as we walk down towards Slad
.
A short stop as we reach the bottom of the valley
.
Then climbing again
.
Rewarded by lunch
.
Before entering Redding Wood followed by Catswood
.
Eventually reaching Piedmont where Mia grabs the camers and takes this rather splendid photo
.
Before we leave the woods
.
Coming out at the bottom of the valley through some thick undergrowth
.
Di's turn to grab the camera as I stride out in front of my fine body of men (or should that be persons)
.
Uphill again
.
Towards Snows Farm
.
We stop at the top to look across to Bulls Cross
.
Janna having explained that mistletoe has great significance in he home country of Slovakia
.
Shortly after Bulls Cross Painswick comes into view
.
We eventually enter the town over the Painswick Stream - harnessed here to provide a water feature
.
Then head up into Painswick
.
Where the party splits, some heading for the nearest tea and cakes others making for the car park
.

top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our Led Walks Programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the Ramblers.
