The road by St Cyrs Church - Bernard starts as he means to go on with a short talk on the canal
.
We set off through the churchyard
.
Across the canal
.
And resume our walk of the whole canal along the other side
.
Looking over to the church
.
And Stonehouse Court
.
Our next input of information from Bernard
.
As we stop to look at the old Wycliffe College Boathouse
.
We continue towards Ryeford
.
Where we are greeted by a family of swans
.
The path continues past this rather imposing residence
.
Then past this new development at Ebley
.
Passing Ebley Mill we continue along the towpath
.
Which is now boasts some rather luxuriant vegitation
.
Our coffee stop
.
Then we continue to Stroud
.
And our next stop at Wallbridge where we are overlooked by the Hill Paul building
.
We pass the Brunel Viaduct carrying the Stroud to Swindon railway line
.
As we march merrily along
.
Eventually reaching Bowbridge
.
Continuing to Stanton Bridge
.
Then Jubillee Bridge
.
Followed by Ham Mills Bridge
.
Where we stop for lunch
.
And Bernard makes himself comfortable
.
As we move off a train approaches on its way to Stroud
.
At Bagpath Bridge we leave the Canal
.
Heading under the railway and steeply uphill
.
Watched by this mother and baby
.
To the day's highlight, the icecream factory, where some nibble at a refreshing ice lollie
.
While others make complete pigs of themselves with a double scoop chocolate waffle cone with flake
.
Our route now takes us through The Hithe
.
Onto Rodborough Common where we look over to Doverow and the Forest of Dean
.
We head downhill
.
Towards Rooksmoor
.
Before climbing back up into Kingscourt
.
Then crossing the valley and up to Selsley
.
Where we look across the Severn Vale
.
Pausing at the top
.
Then going steeply downhill
.
Bernard still coming up with more information as we stop
.
Near Stanley Mill
.
Before crossing the fields back to the cars

top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our Led Walks Programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the Ramblers.
