.
The car park at Fostons Ash and six of us gather for what promises to be a totally wet and miserable day
.
Setting off we pass a farmer making hay while the rain pours
.
Bill waits patiently for a straggler to catch up
.
Then we head off towards Saltridge Wood
.
Looking across the valley at leaden skies
.
A short break
.
Taken on Sheepscombe Common
.
Where we look down over the village
.
No signs of life - too wet to go out
.
Before heading downhill
.
Wild flowers on either side
.
And looking across the valley at the many shades of green
.
We stop to examine a flower border at the entrance to Workman's Wood
.
Then head off along the woodland path
.
Passing a small pond
.
And stopping while Steve draws our attention to some unusual grasses
.
Growing on the side of the path
.
A long climb takes us back to Fostons Ash for lunch
.
Refreshed and ready to go we head off in the afternoon rain
.
Along the side of a Polo field towards Brimpsfield
.
The rain getting heavier
.
Our route takes us down
.
Through another wood
.
And back to the cars
.

top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our Led Walks Programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the Ramblers.
