.
Jacqui leads us off past the village pub at Ford in Wiltshire
.
Along the verge
.
Admiring the wild flowers
.
And on to a footpath
.
Across fields
.
We are pleased to spot a wood ahead
.
To escape the sun for a while
.
A huge stile to negotiate
.
Peaceful glades
.
And the waters of the Bybook
.
Passing older cottages
.
And grander places
.
These old beech trees could tell a tale
.
Must be reaching civilisation now
.
Pretty Castle Combe
.
This has been used for filming, the first time in 1967 for Dr Dolittle starring Rex Harrison, where this corner was converted to look like a fishing village for three months!
.
All TV aerials were hidden, and cables put underground
.
Still no cables etc - why don' t they do this everywhere? The place looks much tidier
.
The old buildings help
.
And the hanging baskets
.
We gather under a shady arch
.
Then pass more flowers
.
Under a mini bridge
.
To reach our coffee stop in the shade
.
We set off again
.
Over a very tidy bridge
.
And a tidy golf course
.
Then an old bridge
.
Are we in France?
.
No, still Wiltshire
.
Heading back down
.
Meeting another group of walkers
.
Then back to Ford, where we give some custom to the White Hart
.

top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our Led Walks Programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the Ramblers.
