.
John leads us uphill out of Avening
.
He must be a busy man
.
We follow a permissive path
.
While Mike cuts a lonely figure following the official right of way
.
We meet up with Mike who demonstrates the correct route on his new electronic gubbins
.
Now heading up the valley through fields of buttercups
.
Following an old farm track
.
And stopping in the shade of a tree for coffee
.
Hiding in the long grass
.
Then descending back
.
Into Avening
.
And lunch
.
The afternoon begins with a climb
.
As we head towards Steps Lane
.
A brief walk along the road
.
Which we leave via a rather high stile
.
Followed quickly by another as we head across fields
.
To the golf course
.
Makes for quite pleasant walking
.
As we stride across the fairways
.
Having a short break once we are out of range of wayward golfballs
.
Soon to be confronted by a new hazard
.
As we drop down from another tricky stile
.
And head downhill
.
Past Avening Court
.
And a picturesque cottage
.
I think the map is upside down
.
Could have done with his fly buster when we were beseiged by horse flies this morning
.
Jacqui expecting rain as we head across cropped fields
.
And back into Avening
.

top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our Led Walks Programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the Ramblers.
