.
Climbing from Stroud Leisure Centre (led by Richard)
.
We cross the main road in Whiteshill and head down into the valley
.
Then back up the other side
.
With views over to Ruscombe
.
And Stroud
.
A pause at a stile as we drop down into Randwick
.
And continuing to Westrip we pass this relic of the not too distant past
.
The farm at the top of the hill in Far Westrip with views of Stonehouse and the River Severn behind
.
Another stile takes us up to Doverow Hill
.
Where we stop for coffee
.
And take in one of the many views
.
Before heading downhill
.
And round the outskirts of Stonehouse
.
Our path now takes us over the fields to Standish
.
Rumours of a giant killer rabbit in the area seem to have been substantiated
.
Continuing in the hot morning sun
.
Watched by a wary fox
.
And by the even more wary parents of a growing gosling
.
Till we start to climb Haresfield Hill
.
A stop for lunch half way up but the top still seems far away
.
Lying in the shade this chap seems bemused by a bunch of Ramblers toiling uphill in the afternoon sun
.
But we seem to be near the top
.
.
As we cross a stile
.
Only to find it wasa false summit and the climb continues
.
Then the sight of the topograph tells us we are nearly there
.
And we stop to study it before
.
Heading to the car park where an ice cream man has stopped apparently on his way to a wedding
.
Full of ice cream we take one last look at the view
.
Before returning
.
Down the Throat into Ruscombe
.
Then passing round the back of Whiteshill Church
.
Back to the cars with more views over Stroud

top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our Led Walks Programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the Ramblers.
