Bulls Cross and Mike prepares us for instalment no 8 of the Wysis Way
.
We head off through the woods
.
Before turning downhill
.
Into the Painswick Valley
.
Past an old grinding stone
.
Pausing as we climb back up
.
To a coffee break at Pitchcombe Church
.
Before we head off towards Edge
.
Passing one happy family
.
Then another
.
Then climbing up the village green
.
We continue along Huddinknoll Hill
.
Where we form an orderly queue
.
For lunch
.
Some take a nap
.
Others just sit around
.
Looking towards Painswick Beacon for which we are heading
.
We continue
.
Towards Cud Hill
.
Where we join the Wysis Way
.
And then head towards the beacon
.
With views down the valley
.
The path leading up Painswick Beacon
.
We arrive at the top
.
Where we have views across the Severn Valley
.
On the way down we pass this sign for the Wysis Way
.
Then continue down through Paradise
.
Now what are they looking amused about?
.
Yes, it's a particularly muddy piece of path with a stream - lets see how everybody copes
.
Along the Painswick Stream the wild garlic is out
.
And we see the odd bluebell
.
A pause for a drink and to allow stragglers to catch up
.
One more hill to climb
.
Then a final look at Painswick before we head back via Longridge to the cars at Bulls Cross
.

top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our Led Walks Programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the Ramblers.
