.
We gather outside the village hall in Shipton Moyne
.
Then set off up the road past the church
.
We are soon in the well manicured avenues of a large stud farm
.
Passing these gnarled old trees
.
While a gnarled old rambler checks to see whether a gate will open to save climbing over a stile
.
A mound of earth!
.
Retrospective planning application for a mound of earth - must have a quiet word in Hetty Pegler's ear
.
Now on the Fosse Way doing our Roman soldiers walk
.
A chance to stride out
.
We pass this tower - all that remains of an old Italian prisoner of war camp
.
A few bends now - we must be off the Roman road
.
A bridge over untroubled water
.
Running through tranquil meadows
.
A good place for coffee
.
If we hadn't pre-ordered lunch we could stay here all day
.
But we set off soon arriving in Easton Grey
.
Where cottages compete with blossom
.
And flowers
.
And even the roadside is a splash of colour
.
Looks like someone is for it
.
Have you noticed that there are always a couple of old men at the back seeking peace and quiet?
.
As we make our way across the fields
.
And back to Shipton Moyne
.

top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our Led Walks Programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the Ramblers.
